[KMY.]

Lakeem Jackson, better known by his stage name [KMY.] (pronounced Kay-Em-Why) was raised in South London with hip-hop and jazz in his household. Around the age of 14, he found out not only was there another side of hip-hop, a underground scene that was seemingly unknown by his fellow classmates but that he had a prowess for free-styling and an ear for samples. He kept it a well guarded secret until around the age of 17 when he met the would be members of The42. After opening for the likes of Oddisee, Chuck Inglish and Jean Grae, the members of the crew went onto work on their individual projects. [KMY.] decided to try and learn how to produce after many frustrating attempts at asking producers for instrumentals. That summer he tried his hand making 150 instrumentals in a month after hearing House Shoes talk about Dilla's workflow. Each day he would dedicate himself to spend 2 hours a day making 8 instrumentals in under 15 minutes and then spending spare time that fine tuning those blueprints to his tasting. From that point he discovered that he had a sound that was akin to Lo-Fi hip-hop but had a seeming more aggressive tone and has since then tried to expand on that mentality with projects “”, "Melt" & "Fade". [KMY.] is currently working with the L.A.B. Collective as one of their in-house producers, helping to cultivate the UK Beatmaking scene and Lo-Fi Community
